Binx Walton • Present Space Print Three 2024

The Wales Bonner collection for Spring 2024 is most certainly a marathon, not a sprint. Beyond the aphorism is of course the studied subject of long-distance running in Ethiopia and Kenya, which designer Grace Wales Bonner used as her point of departure for the collection. Enter Binx Walton, cover star of the third issue of Present Space by photographer Zoë Ghertner and frequent collaborator with the London-based designer. “I was interested in [these] running traditions, but particularly in the tranquil figure of the long-distance runner,” Grace said speaking with the publication. “Since I was very interested in these traditions of marathon running, I was naturally drawn to technical clothing, clothes to move in.” For this feature shot in Los Angeles and styled by Camilla Nickerson, Binx embodies the ethos that is at the heart of this collection. For the shot used on the cover, a dewy Binx (pictured) wears the Wales Bonner running short in silver with gold trim. The portrait evokes the runner’s glow that radiates following a race of great distance by the sort of serial winner that is Binx Walton.
